Rubber Edging as a Practical Product
Summary: Rubber edging is very paractical and has
many many uses. Walkways and strips of lawn are better preserved using
rubber edging and maintain separation that makes it easier to manicure. From an economic or green standpoint, using
rubber edging makes fantastic sense outdoors.
Rubber edging has uses as varied as the imagination of the consumer. The products designed as rubber
edging have practical applications from marine fixtures to gardening. As the science of rubber engineering advances
with the technology afforded its research consumers can expect to get quality rubber at discounted prices. Though
the project may dictate installation from a professional for maximum effectiveness, rubber edging is efficient in
any of its uses.
When landscaping, edging provides separation of space and clean lines as well as
preservation of the areas being divided. Mulch beds against a driveway will retain water and nutrients in soil when
edged with rubber while preventing the drive from cracking or wearing from the moisture kept behind the edge.
Walkways and strips of lawn are better preserved using rubber edging and maintain separation that makes it easier
to manicure. From an economic or green standpoint, using rubber edging makes fantastic sense outdoors. Rubber can
be purchased which is composed of mostly or all recycled materials, and the containment of a bed or landscaped zone
with rubber edging minimizes the amount of water or fertilizer necessary. Most rubber products are resilient
against the forces of weather that may shift from freezing to direct sunlight or oppressive heat.
Marinas, boatslips and docks have long been common places for the use of rubber
edging. By wrapping the pillars of a dock in rubber edging boat owners can prevent scuff marks on their craft and
wear to the dock posts themselves. Aside from the legs of a pier or dock, boat owners often line the edges of a
dock or marina walkway with rubber edging for grip, safety and preservation of the wood and hardware. Generally the
rubber used for dock edging comes in a prefabricated two strip format, but the product is flexible enough to be cut
bent or pulled for just about any application.
Rubber edging is a responsible material to be used from the home and garden to the
marina. The prices on rubber edging vary greatly depending on the project for which it was designed. For the garden
most nurseries will sell rubber edging from $10 each 10-foot segment to over $25. In the marine market rubber
edging ranges based on design up to $250 for a 50-foot segment. Though there are stores on-line and marine shops,
which carry rubber edging for purchase, it may be less expensive to shop from a bulk rubber retailer or rubber
company directly. Rolls often come pre-cut in large manageable segments with which the consumer can do as he or she
pleases.
